Voice control is based on the speech recognition technology: the system receives information, compares the findings with commands, which programmed in the system and, in the case of coincidence, performs the predefined action. The more syllables in the programmed command, the greater chance that the system recognizes it without any errors.
Voice dialing of numbers is supported by all modern mobile phones. Voice dialing makes it possible to dial the desired number via voice (without pushing buttons) – it’s enough to utter the keyword (such as name or surname) and the device itself will cull up and dial the phone number from the phonebook. Voice identifiers corresponding to different phone numbers previously entered into device’s memory by owner.
Voice control is used by many automobile giants (BMW, Audi and others): vehicle manufacturers seek to improve safety and comfort of driver, and therefore make it possible to control the on-board electronics via voice. It allows the driver to be less distracted from driving and due to this the driving safety is increasing in general.
Voice control technology is successfully implemented in various telecommunication services. Voice self-service system (VSS) is an effective way to improve service quality and company’s brand. For example, in the automatic secretary service: calling in the contact center, user utters the name of the person with whom he wants to communicate, and the system automatically connects them. Or in the voice navigation service in menu of entertainment services: for example, to listen to the horoscope users need only to utter their zodiac sign.
Systems which allow carrying out voice control of PC are developed nowadays. Voice control is also implemented in the voice mail, where all operations with messages are carried via voice commands.
Implementation of voice control systems in games makes them more fascinating. Much more interesting during the game to send troops into battle with the voice command “to attack!” than to do the same with the mouse.
